Tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sunset Rentals
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you crave, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
