Tips and Tricks to get the best rental experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best vacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Sunset Rentals
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. message the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
