Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Fantastic views of the George Fazio Golf Course! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you crave, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
