How to book the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your family commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Fantastic views of the George Fazio Golf Course! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
