Rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Charming Condo with Pool, On-site Tennis & Great Location near Harbour Town has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
