How to find the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing the best Hilton Head vacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Charming Villa with Ocean Views, Pool, & Hot Tub - Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
