Our top Rental home booking tips:
Find your best deal:
- Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by having your family agree to trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Charming Villa with Ocean Views, Pool, & Hot Tub - Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
