Strategies for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Finding the best vacation rental:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Beachfront getaway with WiFi, pools, hot tub, gym, washer\/dryer, & central AC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
