Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental:
- First and foremost, have your group choose the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Large Home on Marsh, Party Deck, Game Rm, Two Golf Carts, 8 Bikes, Elevator, ADA has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
