Strategies to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is high season in the Hilton Head area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose the rightrental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. A spacious condo with community pool, hot tub, and oceanfront views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
