Strategies for getting the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking your prefect Hilton Head vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 1400 sq ft of nothing but comfort and fun! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
