How to book the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Reserve your Hilton Head vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and picking the perfectrental:
- Start by having your family commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Water-view townhome with pool & tennis access & on-site golf has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is suitable for your group.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
