Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Hilton Head:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Double Master Suite Luxury 4 BR Sea Pines Home, Private Pool, Gorgeous Live Oaks has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you crave, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
