Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Serene Oceanfront Villa with WiFi, Pool, Hot Tub, & Fitness Center has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your group.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
