Our top Hilton Head rental home booking tips:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Choosing and booking the rightrental home:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Recently Renovated with Open Concept! One of the best in Queens Grant! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
