Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Private pool - space for the whole family 4 bedrooms! 7 Port Au Prince has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
