Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and pick your prefectvacation home:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Pet friendly Palmetto Dunes villa on the first floor- short walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
