Strategies to get the very best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the best vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean from every room! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you crave, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Have a wonderful stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
