Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean from every room! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
