How to get the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront Hilton Head Vacation Rental has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you simply love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for a great stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
