Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Finding the perfect rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • First and foremost, have your family select dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront condo w\/free WiFi, balcony, shared pool & tennis court, & private W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. text the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
