Strategies for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- To find the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best rental:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean-View Condo with Beach Access, Tennis, Playground, Shared Pool & Hot Tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
