Tips for getting the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 2 Bed\/2 Bath Villa North Shore Place Near Coligny Beach, Rooftop Pool and Spa has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
