Tips and Tricks to get the very best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Large Two Bedroom Queens Grant Villa with a Lovely Outdoor Space! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
