Getting the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Hilton Head area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Ideally located condo with pool, tennis court, balcony, and direct beach access has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is right for your trip.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
