Tips to get the optimal Hilton Head rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summer months are high season in the Hilton Head area. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Finding the perfect rental:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Charming Waterfront Getaway with Seasonal Pool & Hot Tub, Tennis, Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If not, call the host before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
