Strategies for getting the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Book your Hilton Head vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the best rental home in Hilton Head:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Nautical Dream at HHR 4323 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
