How to find the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental home in the Hilton Head area:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. A Relaxing Getaway with Shared Pools and Hot Tub in an Oceanfront Villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
