Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • To find the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and choosing the perfectrental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 8 Bedroom\/8.5 Bathroom Large Luxurious Home in Palmetto Dunes Sleeps 26 has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
