Tips for getting the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Book your Hilton Head rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best vacation rental:

  • First, have your group select dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. 8 Bedroom\/8.5 Bathroom Large Luxurious Home in Palmetto Dunes Sleeps 26 has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
