How to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Hilton Head vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Spacious villa with pool, hot tub, playground & cute decor - steps from beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
