How to find the best vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best vacation home in Hilton Head:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Pet Friendly Harbour Town Condo! Weekly & Monthly Rates January - March 2025! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
