Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best rental home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Conveniently located, gorgeous home with private pool & elevator - walk to beach has 9 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
