How to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. Book your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose your Hilton Head vacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Fully Renovated Sea Pines Home w\/ Private Pool Six Rows from the Water - Dogs OK has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Have a great stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
