Hilton Head vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Updated Villa Easy Walk to the Beach and Pool has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
