Tips to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Lovely Three Bedroom Villa close to everything! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
