Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.
Choosing the perfect rental in Hilton Head:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful Home with Private Pool and Many Updates! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
