How to get the best vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To find the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 4 bed\/3 bath home in Shipyard with peaceful lagoon view and private pool has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Call the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
