How to book the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your family decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Tranquil condo with two outdoor pools, bike paths and beach access has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
