Strategies to get the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family agree to the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Tranquil condo with beach access has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
