Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Newly Updated Surf Court Villas Condo w\/ Big Pool - 1 Block to Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
