Hilton Head vacation rental tips:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book a perfectrental:
- To start, have your group agree to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Island dream on the beach with pool, hot tub, balcony has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
