Rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best rental home:
- First and foremost, have your family choose trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Hilton Head Vacation Rental on the practice green and driving range! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. text the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
