Tips and Tricks to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Dog-friendly gem with pool, game room & golf course views - walk to beach has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
