Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- To start, have your group choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Wonderfully Updated Two Bedroom Villa Close to Pool and Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
